We work with a number of central bodies including the Department of Health, CSIP, and the Home Office. This work has helped both to develop central guidance and management tools and to disseminate intelligence to the field.
Whilst the overarching coordination role of the centre is now being replaced by a more ‘hands off’ relationship, we will still, when called upon, offer support and advice. An example of this is our ongoing commitment to the DH/CSIP to deliver the service and financial mapping exercise for adults and older people. Our Combined Mapping Framework (CMF) provides both critical feedback to the centre on mental health delivery and important intelligence to the field on comparative performance.
Over the last few years our central work has incorporated:
• Project managing the Project Implementation Guide for the NSF.
• The development and implementation of the annual national self assessment process.
• Project management and the establishment of the National Institute for Mental Health in England (NIMHE).
• Ongoing service and financial mapping of adult and older people’s services.
• Work with the Department of Health and with Monitor on establishing the first wave of Mental Health Foundation Trusts.
