Healthcare and Capital planning
We combine our healthcare planning expertise with a proven track record in model of care analysis and capacity planning.
Market feedback has shown that added value in healthcare planning is derived from having an in depth understanding of the clinical issues. All of our healthcare planners come from NHS backgrounds and have an excellent understanding of the clinical context, combined with an understanding of the strategic issues facing acute, primary care and mental health trusts.
In addition to our clinical knowledge we bring an expertise in interpreting design guidance and best practise. Members of our team have been involved in writing the Department of Health design guidance for community hospitals and primary care facilities. One of our team is also a member of the NHS Estates Design Review Panel, which assesses designs for best practise.
Our capital planning team has many years' experience of working on PFI, P21, LIFT and Design and Build Schemes, in both inpatient and community settings. We have worked both as Trust side advisors and as part of consortia.
We offer a wide range of service to the NHS and to consortia as members of design teams. We offer the following services to support capital projects:
• Estate Strategies
• Model of care review
• Capacity planning
• Operational policies/output based specifications
• Business case writing
• Schedules of accommodation
• Reviews of plans
• Room data sheets
• Derogation reports
• Revenue and affordability analysis
• Trust side advice during a bidding process
Many providers are rationalising their estates to fit modernised models of care. Some are also taking advantage of the greater freedoms conferred by Foundation Trust status.
Our approach is to provide a strategy that complies with NHS estates guidance yet also integrates the organisation’s service strategy with the opportunities and constraints created by the current estate.
To support this aim we draw on our skills in assessing the built environment and our in depth understanding of mental health strategy. We have recently completed estates strategies which have covered a full range of development options for providers operating across a wide number of sites.
