Vicky Scott
BSc (Hons) Information Systems and Psychology,
PgC Primary Care Mental Health Practice
Vicky joined Mental Health Strategies (MHS) in 2006. Before this she worked as a Primary Care Graduate Mental Health Worker (PCGMHW) for North Cumbria Mental Health and Learning Disabilities NHS Trust. While completing a degree in Information Systems and Psychology she worked part time as a Web Designer.
As part of training for her post as a PCGMHW she undertook a postgraduate certificate in Primary Care Mental Health Practice. On this course she gained clinical skills such as assessment, problem formulation, clinical programme implementation and evaluation. This equipped her to implement a range of evidence-based low-intensity psychological treatments for people with mild to moderate mental health problems.
Since working at MHS, Vicky has had experience in:
• Designing improvements to the national annual online mental health service mapping exercise from 2007-2009 at http://www.mhcombinedmap.org. This work entailed listening to feedback from the DH, CSIP and users of the website and liaising with web programmers to implement improvements
• Benchmarking finance, service and performance data as part of market assessment jobs
• Calculating the prevalence of mental health disorders and forecasting the likely demand on services
• Using demographic and national prevalence rates to support alcohol and dual diagnosis strategies
• Modelling of acute beds and dementia services. This work involves drawing detailed patient flow diagrams and applying probabilities of patients following different paths by using the client's patient movement area
In her spare time Vicky enjoys cooking Asian food for her friends.
