Mental health in prisons
We appreciate and acknowledge the level and complexity of mental health issues amongst the offending population. With a sound experience base, working with mentally disordered offenders both in custody and beyond, we are well positioned to provide solution focused strategies and meet the development needs of organisations that reflect the changes around mental health provision in prisons and the expectations of all services in relation to the ‘offender mental health care pathway.’
The essential need for mental health providers to create seamless pathways of care across criminal justice, prison health and social care poses many issues. We can provide critical analysis, solution focused management and skills based development tools to meet these complex and challenging demands.
State of mind
(mental health awareness and management in custodial settings)
This training package is designed to enable students to undertake a modular, self learning course and is based on a reflective learning model accounting for personal and professional experiences. State of Mind is primarily designed for use by staff that routinely come into contact with, and have a ‘duty of care’ for, offenders within any custodial setting. It is designed to enhance skills in managing individuals who present with complex needs and challenging behaviours which may be as a result of mental health difficulties.
