Finance and service mapping update
Finance mapping
This is the 7th year that Mental Health Strategies has been commissioned by the Department of Health to undertake the financial mapping review that assesses investment in adult and older adult mental health services in England.
Our reports analyse changes in overall investment and on individual services as well as a profile by Commissioner and Provider. This information is provided both to the Department of Health and to all LITs, together with a specific report for each LIT that highlights changes in investment and how this compares nationally.
There are 148 LITs this year and the response rate has been very good. There have been changes in the configuration of these LITs since last year and changes in personnel in LITs.; it is helpful when these changes can be notified to us. We shall be reviewing this work when it is completed to see whether there are any improvements that can be made.
If people involved in this work wish to make any comments, these can be emailed to finmap@mentalhealthstrategies.co.uk
Service mapping
This year’s Service Mapping exercise launched on February 8th 2008. Registration is carried out at http://www.mhcombinedmap.org/register.aspx. The data collection will close on 5th May and sign off of Healthcare Commission and Department of Health Data is to be completed by Mental Health Chief Executives and Regional Leads by the 30th May.
MHS, Usable Systems and CSIP have been working non-stop since the end of Service Mapping 2007 to improve the website based on user feedback. A number of developments have been made including the ability for Mental Health Trusts to control their own data entry and a new forum with Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) at: http://www.mhssupport.org.
The Service Mapping Helpdesk runs an email mailing list with updates to the service mapping. If you would like to be added to this mailing list please send your email address to servicemap@mhssupport.org. If you have any further questions about service mapping, please give our helpdesk a call on 0161 785 1005.
